Coast Hunter Survival Course
2 day bushcraft and survival course
Locations: Devon / Dorset / West Wales
This course is designed around finding and catching coastal foods, including trapping, spear fishing, netting and specialist fishing skills, with and without modern equipment and tools. Ideal for self-sufficiency and survival needs, a must for all hunter gatherers!
It was no wonder that early man first thrived along the seashore as it holds an abundance of wild foods. Learn how to correctly identify and responsibly collect them.
The course is set from morning through until lunch time the following day. Different locations are used and their suitability is taken into consideration for the various methods you will learn demonstrated by the team, including surf beaches, rock ledges, sand gully's, estuaries and inland meadow streams and woodland.
There has never been a more perfect opportunity to Learn different techniques that will maximise your chances of finding and catching both fish, shellfish and edible plants. Find and identify plants and animals that live both on and alongside the coastline.
Using both modern tools and equipment, with ancient tried and tested improvised methods. You will get a chance, to produce and make; traps, nets and spears for catching fish and shellfish.
Land set traps will be demonstrated only.
After a good forage and hunting session, we will make a small camp followed by preparing to fish into the night using available resources as bait, larger fish venture in shore under the cover of darkness, and can be taken on improvised fishing gear that you will construct with the aid of your 'Coastal Survival kit. Conventional methods will also be demonstrated.

Notes:
All the standard equipment you require for this course is supplied at no extra cost. This includes a knife. (Recent travel restriction may prohibit the carrying of sharp objects)
All you need bring is your self sensible dressed for the season and a spare change of cloths and towel in a sealed waterproof bag. A full set of water proofs. Foot wear should be waterproof,light and easily removable.
